The United States, Australia and the United Kingdom are calling on people gathered at the gates of Kabul airport to get out of there as soon as possible, because there is a high risk of a terror attack by the local section of terror group IS in afghanistan. The Netherlands calls on people in Afghanistan not to come to Kabul airport anymore. This is confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The threat would emanate from IS-K, a local branch of the terrorist group IS. According to terror experts, that threat has increased since the fall of the government and the takeover by the Taliban. The situation at the airport is too dangerous and the entrance gates are closed. Outgoing minister Sigrid Kaag said on Wednesday that time is running out. Belgium announced later that day that it would stop the evacuation. In recent days, almost 2000 people have been brought to the Netherlands from Kabul.

The US and British governments are also calling on their citizens to stop coming to the international airport. It is also advised to get out of there. Thousands of people have gathered around the airport hoping to get away. The Belgians already stopped the evacuation yesterday. All staff and evacuees have gathered in Islamabad. The federal government announced this in a press release on Wednesday evening.

The Taliban have announced that they will no longer allow Afghans to enter the airport. Three buses with Dutch evacuees were stuck at the airport all Wednesday. A number of Afghans who were on the buses have been removed. After that, the buses were still able to reach the airport. The US military will leave on August 31. But they will close the airport days early to be able to get their own people and equipment out of the country. The Americans indicate when countries should stop their evacuation operations.
