The Dutch government has made the United States a very high risk area labeled. As a result, vaccinated travelers from the United States, who also have a negative test statement or proof of recovery, must also be quarantined in the Netherlands for ten days. Due to these new rules, KLM feels compelled to cancel a number of destinations in the United States for the time being. In the winter schedule, which runs from October 31, 2021 to March 26, 2022, several weekly flights were scheduled to Orlando, Miami and Las Vegas. These destinations have been removed from the winter schedule until further notice.

Travelers who have a ticket with a KLM flight to Miami, Orlando or Las Vegas will receive a message from next week. The flights to Orlando were part of the six new destinations for KLM this winter. These flights were originally operated in conjunction with Miami, but recently the airline decided to separate these two destinations. It now appears that these destinations are no longer available at all for the time being. In the winter season of 2021-2022, flights are still planned to Washington, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Houston and New York. During the winter season it is still possible to fly with Delta to Orlando, Miami or Las Vegas. A switch is then required. During the winter season, this airline flies from Amsterdam Schiphol to Seattle, Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, New York, Minneapolis and Detroit. Delta also flew in the past to Orlando and Tampa, but these destinations have been canceled (for the time being) due to the Coronavirus. So there is no direct Skyteam connection between the Netherlands and Florida.

Phuket

KLM has also decided not to fly to Phuket in Thailand this winter. This has to do with the local situation regarding the Coronavirus and the fact that the Dutch government has designated Thailand as a high-risk area. Because Thailand has been designated as a high-risk area by the Dutch government, only necessary trips are advised. In addition, travelers must be quarantined upon return to the Netherlands. KLM indicates that this has a negative impact on the demand from various markets, making it inopportune for the airline to fly to Phuket. Originally, the airline would fly to Phuket via Kuala Lumpur. The flights were scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. KLM initially saw potential in this destination, as a large B777-300ER was planned to carry out the flights.
