Who wouldn't want that for free on holiday through Europe by train? 2022 has been declared the European Year of Youth. Thanks to DiscoverEU, the European Commission will give 60.000 European young people born between 1 July 2001 and 31 December 2003 who apply and are selected a free rail pass to travel around Europe. From 12:00 today until October 26, 12:00, 60.000 young people of this age group can apply for a free rail pass for a journey through Europe in 2022. This train journey through Europe gives young people opportunities to increase their knowledge, broaden their horizons. broaden and enrich their experiences and meet other people here as well.

“I am very happy to open this new round of DiscoverEU to give 60 young people the opportunity to discover the riches of our continent. Now that the Commission has declared 000 the European Year of Youth, DiscoverEU is back bigger than ever with new opportunities for young people to travel by train, broaden their horizons, increase their knowledge, enrich their experiences and help other Europeans train journey from March 2022”.

If you are selected for the free rail pass, you can travel within Europe for a minimum of one day and a maximum of 1 days between 2022 March 28 and 2023 February 30. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the future is still uncertain and all travelers can make flexible bookings thanks to a new mobile travel pass. The departure date can be changed up to the last minute and the mobile travel passes are valid for one year. Young people with special needs such as disabilities or health problems are also encouraged to participate in DiscoverEU. The number of travel passes per Member State is based on the share of each Member State in the total population of the European Union.
