Jorin Aardoom, Data & Innovation manager at DPD, recently received the Parcel & Postal Technology International award 2021 in the category Last Mile Delivery Innovation at the Parcel + Post Expo 2021 in Vienna. DPD Netherlands won this award for the innovative app DPDrivR. The jury, consisting of CEOs and directors of postal & parcel services worldwide, could choose from a total of approximately 100 entries. In the Last Mile Delivery Innovation category, DPD competed against companies such as Rakuten Super Logistics, Paztir & Citkar.

DPDrivR app
With the DPDrivR app, parcel deliverers receive daily direct insight into their individual performance, which is focused on, among other things, delivery performance and customer reviews. Through gamification, DPD motivates the deliverers to continuously improve their performance. With this, DPD allows the deliverers to develop from a positive and motivating approach through game elements. For example, the deliverers can score points when they achieve different achievements and thus also earn medals, for example by reaching the magical limit of 10.000 kilometers driven for DPD. Thanks to the app, the parcel deliverer knows better than ever before what is expected regarding delivery performance and is immediately able to improve this performance. It is motivating to get positive feedback and not just to hear it when things go wrong.

Increased Packages
Due to corona, the number of packages that have to be delivered daily has increased enormously. This increased workload requires continuous improvements and solutions around the delivery process. DPD is convinced that DPDrivR makes a significant contribution to improved services.

“We are extremely proud to receive this beautiful, international award. There were so many good entries and it is an honor that a professional jury awarded our entry as the best. A lot of hard work has gone into developing the app and winning such an award is a nice reward. With the DPDrivR app, our parcel deliverers are motivated in a positive way to further increase the delivery performance. By also making the positive customer experiences transparent for them. I would like to emphasize once again that our deliverers have had to deal with a huge increase in the number of parcels to be delivered in the past year. We are very proud of how they have coped with this continuous peak and we thank them for their enormous dedication and commitment. ”
