According to the RET, line 47 is already running less than before and will be canceled as of January 10, 2022. This is due to the interventions that the RET is making in the timetable in the context of the corona crisis. RET understands that this is difficult for the residents of the Noordereiland. Line 32 will continue to run and can be used as an alternative. That is a further walk from the west side of the island. In addition, the municipality already has a customized solution with another carrier because line 47 has already started running less often. The municipality is looking into the possibilities of continuing to use this customization if line 47 is canceled altogether.

Due to the corona crisis, transport companies are not yet at the passenger numbers of the past. To compensate for the lost income, the government reimburses 93-95% of the costs incurred. The carriers therefore have to pay a part themselves. At the RET they do this through a combination of savings on internal operations, the timetable and the deployment of tram conductors and metro service employees. When making savings on the timetable, they always look for interventions that have the least possible impact and where alternatives are available if possible. This does not alter the fact that the cutbacks can be annoying for some travelers.

Trevvel

The contract with carrier Trevvel was previously extended until the end of 2021. They provide transport by appointment from various stops on the Noordereiland to Blaak station. Trevvel will also stop the extra service on the Noordereiland as of January 10, 2022 North Island was a pilot of the municipality of Rotterdam. Non-customers of Trevvel were able to use Trevvel for transportation on the island from June 15, 2020. There was too little enthusiasm for this service and that is why it has been cancelled. In the evenings and weekends, from January 10, there will be no more driving for non-customers. From now on, the RET will provide the timetable on weekdays using e-shuttles. Of course Trevvel does transport its own customers to and from the Noordereiland.
