More than 68.000 motors have already registered odometer readings, which is more than 100.000 odometer readings in total. From 1 July 2021, authorized garages must register the mileage of motorcycles.
Registration with repair and maintenance
We see that more than 40% of the odometer readings of this large group of motorcycles are registered during a repair, maintenance or tire change. Then with an inclusion in the company stock (22%) and with an ascription of an engine (17%). Information about odometer readings of motorcycles is included in the RDW Vehicle Report. For example, when selling their motorcycle, owners/holders can offer potential buyers an overview of registered odometer readings.
Preventing Fraud
De registration should combat economic fraud and improve road safety. An engine with a rolled back odometer is more expensive to purchase and maintain. This is because the engine has then driven more kilometers than the mileage indicates and necessary maintenance is often linked to that mileage.
