On Tuesday 11 January, Qarin, which connects various service providers in public transport, opened its specialized control center Q-direction. Q-Regie now guides the boarding and disembarkation assistance for NS and Arriva at more than 200 stations, organizes the Disabled Team Athlete Transport of Specials Heroes Netherlands and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and supports the MaaS app (Mobility as a Service) Goan! in Twente. From April 2022, it will also accompany the new HaltetaxiRRReis service from the province of Gelderland.

"With Q-Regie, we are starting the first coordination center that specializes in guiding the 'first and last mile' of public transport. Whether it concerns taxi, Wmo transport or shared mobility, we supervise all connections. further where MaaS ends. If there are delays in public transport, a connecting taxi has to wait or an assistance provider organizes an alternative transfer, much can be automated, but not everything. Our employees have access to all available travel information and ensure connections are made This is how we strengthen the travel chain, so that everyone can travel without barriers from A to B."

Q-Regie was set up in collaboration with Transport Company Juijn from Zaltbommel. Various areas of expertise have been brought together, with Q-Regie mainly focusing on the expertise of connecting travel assistance, taxi and Social Support Act transport to public transport.

“Travel without barriers by public transport stands or falls with being able to rely on a good connection. This applies to public transport, but also to pre and post transport. Much information can be exchanged digitally. Travel information including delay detectors are available and will be made available to the traveler. Nevertheless, intervention by a person remains necessary for certain services. With well-trained directors, we keep an eye on the booked chain trips of our travelers. It is essential here that an assistant or taxi is at the station on time, otherwise the passenger will not be able to board, exit or transfer and confidence in public transport will be damaged.”

With Q-Regie, Qarin is already anticipating the introduction of HaltetaxiRRReis on April 3, 2022, an addition to public transport in Gelderland, provided by stop-to-stop taxis. This service is aimed at the pre and post transport of regular public transport. In addition, the bus stop runs to train stations within a radius of 15 kilometers when the local bus or 'regular bus' no longer runs. The province of Gelderland states that it is confident that it has found a good and professional partner in Qarin who can further develop the stop taxi concept into a flexible and coherent public transport system. The contract has a value of 2 million euros per year.
