The taxi vouchers were introduced at the start of the vaccination campaign because it was not always easy for residents of Sint-Katelijne-Waver and Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver to get to the vaccination center in Mechelen. This target group could call on a taxi. 

In 2021, six people made use of a taxi check, but this is a limited number, according to Alderman for Welfare and Health Sarah De Keyser (CD&V), certainly not a disappointment. In the Gazet van Antwerpen she says that it shows that the inhabitants are self-reliant and can count on a helpful network. Nevertheless, the system whereby residents of Sint-Katelijne-Waver can use a taxi check to go to the vaccination center is being extended. 

In this way, people who have difficulty walking or who do not have a large network can also be vaccinated report† The employees of the vaccination center saw many elderly people who were accompanied by children, grandchildren, neighbors or acquaintances. And the less mobile center was also regularly called upon.
