Who would have expected this, the whole of the Netherlands is overjoyed with the relaxation announced yesterday by Ernst Kuipers during the press conference. During the press conference yesterday, it was announced that the corona situation in a country anywhere in the world is no longer decisive for the color of the travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Just like before the corona crisis, all health and safety risks are again taken into account, so corona is no longer leading in this. This positive change will allow us to travel again to countries around the world outside of Europe. Countries outside the European Union and Schengen zone that had a yellow or green color code before the corona pandemic will be given this color again if the security situation allows. Color code yellow means that there are safety risks or that are different from what we are used to in the Netherlands. Color code green means that the security situation is comparable to the Netherlands.

"We largely disconnect the color in the travel advice from the corona situation in a country. In this way the world becomes a lot less orange and travel to more destinations is possible."

The travel advice will be adjusted in steps from today, this is done on the basis of advice from Dutch embassies and consulates around the world. All health and safety risks are weighed up in this, including corona. There are exceptions, for example a country where a worrying variant of the corona virus appears is immediately given the color code orange. The travel advice is then changed to travel only if this is strictly necessary, for example in the event of the death of a family or an accident or serious illness of a family member. As of February 25, the quarantine obligation will expire for travelers who return to the Netherlands, they must show a negative test certificate. All EU countries are currently color coded yellow on the website The Netherlands worldwide and travelers within the EU need a digital corona certificate to travel. These travelers must be able to show a vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or test certificate. Face masks are still mandatory at the airport and on the plane.

“Travel advice largely goes back to the pre-pandemic situation. We make countries and areas red and orange because of security risks such as war, terror threat and natural disasters. And we pay attention to the health risks. So still read the entire travel advice: before you book, just before departure and during your trip".

We can go on holiday outside Europe again.
