The Netherlands went out a lot last year. More than three quarters of the Dutch have visited an outing. Not only did people flock to forest and recreational areas, zoos and amusement parks were also popular. This is apparent from research by the ANWB during the election of the 'Best outing in the Netherlands 2022'.

During the corona period, outings remained popular. Despite the corona measures such as pre-booked time slots, the Dutch went out. Working with time locks was experienced as pleasant by 79 percent of the visitors. Yet 43 percent of the Dutch hope that this will no longer be necessary in the future.

Almost half of the respondents indicated that the offer of outings in their own province is very important. Especially the short travel time made it easy to spontaneously visit an outing. On the other hand, about 15 percent of the Dutch thought it was no problem to travel a little further for an outing. They actually liked being in a new environment

Most visitors orientated themselves online about the day out and bought the entrance tickets for an outing in advance. Discount campaigns and offers played an important role in this. About half of the Dutch people regularly use this when buying an entrance ticket.

A healthy range of food and drinks in the catering industry is important to most visitors. Although the majority of people do not want to pay extra for this. One in three Dutch people usually take their own food with them to an outing and 15 percent always do so.

Announcement of winners of the election 'Best outing in the Netherlands 2022'

On Thursday afternoon, February 17, the ANWB will announce what, according to members of the ANWB, is the 'Best Outing in the Netherlands 2022', both nationally and per province. During the election, members cast their vote for the outing they appreciate most on five aspects: price-quality ratio, customer-friendliness, offer, facilities and atmosphere. In total, nearly 75.000 votes were cast. These ratings, along with the total number of votes, lead to the national and provincial winners, according to the ANWB.
