Despite many warnings by weatherman Frank Deboosere, a Belgian weatherman for the VRT, entrepreneurs in the center of Ghent were still surprised by the storm. Eunice also did not spare Ghent on Friday during his passage. Everything took the storm with it, including the ticket house of the boat rental on the Graslei. Emergency services had warned in advance to secure anything that could blow away. The Ghent fire brigade was busy, more than 800 reports were received every hour.

Tourists will hardly notice it the day after Eunice passed through Ghent. With all their might, everything is cleaned up and everything is done to put the ticket house back in its place. Rather, it was blown to the surface like a cardboard house. The wind continued to blow strongly in Ghent all evening, but around 18 pm Eunice had passed the peak. The wind will continue to blow hard at 80 or 90 km/h all weekend. But of course that cannot be compared with Friday's peaks, which went up to 167 km/h.

At Graslei, the most beautiful site in Ghent, you can embark for a guided tour cruise from 40 minutes on the Leie and Lieve to the Rabottorens and back. Of course there are also guided tours of 40 or 60 minutes in an electric, almost silent boat.
