This spring break, a lot of travelers are taking a break again. More than 405.000 passengers are expected at Brussels Airport during the entire holiday period. Sun destinations are especially popular, and this concerns destinations such as Spain and the Canary Islands, the Cape Verde Islands and Egypt. But there is also a lot on offer for winter sports enthusiasts, with direct flights to Innsbruck (Austria), Bolzano (Italy) and Kittila (Finland).

During the ten days of the spring break, from Friday 25 February to Sunday 6 March, more than 405.000 travelers are expected at Brussels Airport. That is over 65% the number of passengers in the same period before the Covid crisis (620.000 passengers in 2020), and the proportion of holidaymakers is even higher, as the number of business travelers and transfer passengers has mainly fallen. The spring break is therefore again a real holiday period after the difficult spring break in 2021 when non-essential travel was not allowed (57.000 passengers). The large number of last-minute bookings with our airlines shows that many people need sun and relaxation.

With 125 direct destinations served by 50 airlines, there is something for everyone this holiday season. The most popular destinations are sun holidays to Spain and the Canary Islands, the Cape Verde Islands and Egypt. Morocco, Tunisia, the Caribbean islands, Mexico and Dubai are also popular with those who like to go a little further afield, as are new destinations Mauritius, Curaçao and Havana. For snow and winter sports enthusiasts, there are direct flights to Innsbruck (Austria), Bolzano (Italy) and Kittila (Finland).

Carefree traveling with children

During school holidays, many families travel together via Brussels Airport† It is good for them to know that the mouth mask obligation for airports has been adjusted and now applies again for children from 12 years old (and no longer from 6 years old). For the rules on the plane, it is best to consult the airline's website. Adapted mouth masks for children of the Smurfs are for sale in the vending machines in the parking lot and in front of the departure hall.

In Pier A, children can explore the Kids' Corner before the flight, where games and books are available, as well as a treatment room. In addition, there are also Airport Games in the Piers to discover (at gates A29, A52 and B31) and some selfie walls (Pier A) for an original photo or TikTok before departure, according to the Belgian airport.
