They have been missing for nine months now, Messrs Jan and Geert Golsteijn from Maasbracht in Limburg. Panorama dives into the dossier about massive scams involving a car leasing company, dubious investments, death threats and a mysterious trip to exquisite Dubai. Their new concept Car Driver Deals will be very successful from 2017. They offer a lease construction that allows customers to rent chic cars at low prices.

The Limburg court has also declared the brothers Geert and Jan Golsteijn from Maria Hoop and Stevensweert personally bankrupt. This means that they no longer have access to their own possessions and money. Yet the brothers and business partners are said to have funneled tens of millions of euros from countless victims. 

Panorama dives into the file on large-scale oplichting nine months after victims of the Limburg company Car Driver Deals united on social media to share suffering with each other. Car Driver Deals found itself in dire straits after the lease cars were collected from approximately three thousand customers.

The system looks like a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme is a system in which participants make an investment and also try to persuade others to participate, after which the investment of the newcomers is used to meet the obligations of existing customers, to lease and transfer cars. The deposit usually varies from a few thousand to tens of thousands of euros. The deposit of those who are recruited goes to those above them in the pyramid. One of the former owners of Car Driver Deals refused to hear any statements about fraud.
