NS director Marjan Rintel will be KLM's new boss with effect from 1 July 2022. Parent company Air France-KLM announced that it will succeed Pieter Elbers at the airline. The KLM works council has still been asked for advice on the appointment. Shareholders have the last word in this regard. Before her appointment to the NS in 2014, Rintel was already active in various positions at KLM and Air France-KLM.

The works council of airline KLM does not want to support the appointment of Marjan Rintel as president for the time being, sources report to De Telegraaf. On Wednesday, the supervisory board wants to make a decision about the succession of current CEO Pieter Elbers, whose contract expires next May.

On the recommendation of the Supervisory Board, the former Minister of Finance, Wopke Hoekstra, had appointed Marjan Rintel as CEO of NS. Rintel has been working at NS since November 2014 and succeeded Roger van Boxtel. As Director of Operations and member of the Executive Board, she was previously responsible for all operational transport and maintenance activities in the Netherlands. Rintel has extensive knowledge of managing complex operational and logistical processes with major social impact. In addition, she has extensive commercial and managerial experience
