Large crowds are expected at gas stations on Friday.

Motorists will be cheaper at the pump from Friday. That is because the cabinet has reduced excise duties on petrol and diesel for the rest of this year. The government wants to make some concessions with this, since energy and fuel prices have risen sharply due to, among other things, the war in Ukraine.

Per liter this involves a reduction in excise duty of more than 17 cents for petrol and more than 11 cents for diesel. Consumer collective UnitedConsumers predicted on Thursday evening that the actual prices will probably drop even more. It was already known at the time that two large oil companies are dropping the petrol price at their pumps by approximately 21 cents. On a 40-litre refueling, that saves more than 8 euros, although refueling is still a lot more expensive than, for example, a year ago.

Large crowds are expected at gas stations on Friday. It has been relatively quiet there in recent days, as many motorists tried to postpone their refueling in order to take advantage of a lower rate. Pump owners have tried to prepare as well as possible. Some petrol stations will probably also deploy extra staff to direct traffic, so that waiting times do not increase unnecessarily.
