offer parties smart tools for an approach in the field of mobility

The Mobility Alliance, the association in which, among others, the ANWB, NS. KNV and the Fietsersbond want to sit with a so-called nine point plan provide local parties with tools for a smart approach in the field of mobility. Stimulate the use of public transport with discount schemes for certain target groups and flexible working and opening hours for shops, offices and schools. The Mobility Alliance, a partnership of 25 parties, presents these and more ideas in a plan to the forty largest municipalities in the Netherlands to keep them accessible, safe and liveable for everyone.

In the plan, the Mobility Alliance also warns about the consequences for accessibility and road safety of the backlogs incurred as a result of postponing infrastructure maintenance. The liveability of large cities is under pressure. Municipalities and cities could use it in their college formations now that the municipal elections are over. According to the alliance, investments in mobility are crucial. According to the 25 parties, mobility is the basis for people to be able to participate in society, but would be under pressure due to, among other things, the growth in the number of residents and visitors in large cities.

Access to mobility is a precondition for participating in society. The municipality can help to provide this access for every resident by offering appropriate products and services together with mobility providers. More and more experience is being gained with this in various cities in the Netherlands. Consider, for example, allowing people with a smaller wallet to use public transport at a reduced rate. Or organizing ride-on services for people without their own transport. And also think of the maintenance of care transport and taxis.

"MaaS is not mentioned as a term in the new coalition agreement, but is seen as a matter of course"

Mobility enables organizations and people to do what they are good at and contributes to a great extent to living enjoyment and enjoyment of life. Further development of MaaS services can enhance mobility in a favorable and ecological way. Public transport, collective passenger transport, bicycle and other two-wheelers provide an answer to the scarce space in the busy areas and neighbourhoods. Public transport of the future can also be viewed more in conjunction with target group transport, taxi transport, shared mobility and the bicycle, so that it becomes increasingly attractive to combine means of transport.
