For the summer season of 2022, a Transavia aircraft has been converted into a Sunweb aircraft. The new design and the new name of the aircraft were recently unveiled in the Transavia hangar. In addition, Transavia and Sunweb Group have released a sustainability budget. Transavia has already started adding 1% SAF to all outgoing flights this year. Sunweb Group and Transavia have jointly decided that the sustainability budget will be used for mixing by SAF on aircraft that Sunweb hires from Transavia. This once again beautifully seals the longstanding collaboration between the two companies. The aircraft will be fully deployed for Sunweb flights this summer and will be named 'Henk Vos'.

Henk Vos is the person who has worked intensively with Sunweb for years to realize the destination network that this aircraft flies. And also to realize the concept of stickering an aircraft in Sunweb house style at Transavia. Henk has just retired, but has worked at Transavia for more than 45 years. This naming is the crown on his wonderful career and the Transavia partnership with Sunweb.

'We are strongly committed to making flying more sustainable, for example by purchasing new, more sustainable aircraft. In addition, we are convinced that we achieve the greatest effect through cooperation with the travel sector. Sunweb is the first partner with whom we take concrete steps towards further sustainability. The sustainability budget is built up on the basis of the number of chairs that we sell to Sunweb. Sunweb and Transavia have jointly decided that this budget will be used to increase the percentage of SAF on Transavia and Sunweb's flights. The collaboration with Sunweb is a great example of how we can work together with the travel industry to make flying more sustainable.'

'In addition to developing alternatives to entice our customers to book a more sustainable holiday, we also work with our partners on initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future. A good example of how the long-term cooperation between Sunweb Group and Transavia continues to develop is the joint sustainability budget. We are therefore proud that we are going to use this budget together with Transavia to increase the percentage of SAF on the Sunweb flights.'

Sustainable Aviation Fuel

SAF is the most sustainable fuel alternative, emitting at least 75% less CO2 than fossil kerosene. Since January 2022, Transavia has used 1% SAF of the fuel on every departing Transavia flight from the Netherlands and Brussels. We started with 1%, because this is the most realistic due to limited availability and high costs. The plan is to use more SAF every year. From 2025 it will be mandatory to mix in SAF. Transavia is anticipating this, according to the Dutch airline.

'In addition to the great ambitions and steps in the field of more sustainable flying, it is of course also wonderful that we continue to innovate and that we can once again take passengers to beautiful destinations with this special Sunweb aircraft. The unveiling of the new stickers and name is a good moment to reflect on the good cooperation and confirms that we do business together and ensure innovation in the travel industry.'
