One in three Dutch people goes out during the May holiday. This is evident from a member poll of the ANWB. Half of them are on holiday in their own country and have booked a campsite, hotel or holiday home. The other half will go abroad. Popular destinations are Germany, Belgium and France.

The wanderlust is once again good for the Dutch. The ANWB member poll shows that fewer and fewer travelers are deterred by corona. Only 13 percent indicate that they have booked a holiday in the Netherlands because of the pandemic. Most holidaymakers go out by car this May holiday. For only one in six of them, high fuel prices play a role in their choice of destination. One in five Dutch people has booked a flight holiday.

In addition, almost half of all Dutch people (48 percent) are already making plans for the summer holidays. Although corona no longer seems to play a significant role when booking a holiday, travelers may still have to deal with corona measures and restrictions this summer.

The most up-to-date information can be found in the ANWB Reiswijzer. On 2 May, the number of holiday countries for which information is provided will increase from twelve to twenty, and the information will be expanded with an interactive country map. You can then easily navigate through the country range and immediately see which rules apply locally.

The ANWB poll is a representative, quantitative survey among more than 1100 members aged 18 and over and held in April 2022. ANWB wants to inspire and encourage everyone who goes out to make a sustainable choice.
