Recently, the young Dutch entrepreneur Daan van der Ende (20) launched a new startup in the rental of 100% electric motorhomes. Van der Ende believes that motorhomes should also believe this in the race to the energy transition and has ambitious plans to become the largest and most modern electric motorhome rental company in the Netherlands.

Camp-e.nl is the newest startup in the motorhome industry. With this, Van der Ende is trying to lead the motorhome industry towards a green future. ”You can travel sustainably throughout Europe by renting one of the fully electric motorhomes via the website. Electric motorhomes are no longer the future, they are the present,” says Van der Ende.

A different mindset

The range of a camp-e motorhome is 330 km (WLTP). In practice, this gives a range of 250 to 280 km. “This is the best on the market right now. It's a bit of a mindset, you shouldn't expect to drive eight hours non-stop to the south of France. After two hours you often have to go to the toilet or have something to eat. Perfect for charging 80% in half an hour. A great convenience for this is that all our customers have free access to stream Netflix wherever and whenever they want.” says Van der Ende.

Electric is really 100% electric

These electric motorhomes are not a hybrid. Cooking is fully electric in these motorhomes. Induction cooking remains a step in the motorhome world that many do not dare to make, it requires a larger electrical setup. The household battery is constantly charged by means of four solar panels on the roof, so that you can fry an egg in the morning on green electricity. It is also a lot safer than having a gas tank on board. Van der Ende: “With a 100% electric motorhome you cannot take yourself seriously and then still cook on gas.”

Future

There is no doubt that electric driving and electric cars are the future. “It is time for a new era. If you don't shift, you'll be left behind. Young people increasingly share messages about travel and that they do not want a 'nine-to-five job'. They see the world changing and want to do something about it. This is the way to fulfill that dream in a sustainable way.” says Dan. To achieve this mission, the young entrepreneur is converting an electric bus into an electric motorhome himself, with an ambitious expectation of ten electric motorhomes in the summer of 2023.
