Ryanair has not followed the strikes of April 22-24 closely with the legal obligation to pay an additional compensation on top of the ticket refund. When airline Ryanair announced that it was canceling several flights during the weekend of April 22-24 due to a strike by its cabin crew, Test purchase explained what your rights are in that case† Several hundred consumers later expressed their displeasure because Ryanair apparently did not care. The organization therefore decided to officially write to the airline to respect the rights of the airline passengers.

But as long as there is no force majeure – and that is not the case when your own staff is on strike – you can also claim a fixed compensation, which varies between € 250 and € 600, depending on the distance of the flight.

The airline is also obliged to inform you clearly about this. Ryanair has not properly informed travelers affected by the April 22-24 strikes. The email following the flight cancellation only clearly referred to the possibility of an alternative flight or a refund, but not to additional compensation. In addition, there was no specific form to request such compensation.

Test Purchase first contacted Ryanair informally. But they received no satisfactory answer. Therefore, they decided to "note" the Irish low-cost carrier and thus officially point out that the company has not fulfilled its legal obligations. After all, it cannot hide behind force majeure to refuse to reimburse passengers. It is the intention of Test purchase to guide the injured passengers to the end. They do not exclude any means of forcing Ryanair to comply with the legal rules.
