The bus company has arranged for a replacement bus driver.

In recent months, the astonishment has grown about the condition of bus drivers who are on the road with travelers every day. During one of the last police checks, another driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. In the end, after the breath analysis, it turned out that the driver had drunk so much that his driver's license had to be revoked.

The traffic police in The Hague looked surprised on Thursday afternoon when they checked a driver at a bus check on the A13. A bus driver, who was transporting a group of children for a school trip, was found to be heavily intoxicated behind the wheel. The bus company has arranged for a replacement bus driver, who was of course checked for alcohol, to ensure that the class of children would still arrive safely.

Last week, the police in the The Hague region had to carry out targeted checks. During a major action in Laak, the police checked a total of 450 drivers of (delivery) cars, mopeds and scooters. Two drivers were under the influence of drugs and received a police report. Two other reasons without a valid driver's license and another driver was reported for 2027 euros. 64 drivers received fines for various violations. The police also received information about overcrowding and about someone causing a nuisance.

The action took place on Wednesday 11 May between 15.00:21.45 pm and XNUMX:XNUMX pm and was aimed at road safety and undermining. The team regularly likes these actions to improve road safety and to reduce nuisance in the neighbourhood. Nuisance in the neighborhood is often caused by crime. Persons who engage in this consider themselves untouchable and undermine society. With these actions, the team wants to combat undermining and nuisance in the neighbourhoods. During the campaign, there was cooperation with Team Traffic, among others.

Control

Road users in the neighborhood and on surrounding through roads were checked in the parking spaces on the Verheeskade. Two vehicles with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) were deployed for the campaign. Using a video camera with a specialized software program, license plates are scanned and compared with so-called hotlists. These indicate whether there is something 'wrong' with the license plate (stolen, not insured, etc.). If there is a 'hit', the vehicle is stopped and both driver and car are checked. One ANPR vehicle was on the Neherkade near the Rijswijkseweg and the other on the Calandstraat. Motorcyclists brought the hit vehicles to the checkpoint.

Team Traffic first took a breathalyzer test from all drivers. A total of 450 drivers had to undergo a breath or saliva test. Two drivers, aged 23 and 29, had used drugs and were arrested. The vehicles of the other drivers were further examined in the control areas, including for the technical condition and car papers and other documents. A total of 64 drivers were fined for various offences, 2 of which were because they were driving without a valid driver's license. A driver has been arrested for receiving or money laundering a vehicle. In addition, a person was checked who still had outstanding fines before 2027. He paid these fines.
