For anyone considering going on a cycling holiday, or just wanting a wonderfully active weekend away, there are now ten LF weekend trips. The routes are a variant of the LF Maas Route, LF Zuiderzee Route, LF Coastal Route and LF Waterline Route. The arrival of the shorter routes makes it possible to taste the complete Long Distance Cycle Route during weekends or midweeks. The concept is simple; part via an LF icon route and part via the nodes, sleep and eat where you want, and after two or three days and a richer experience come back to the starting point. We know from recent research that relatively many short cycling holidays are taken. The LF weekend trips meet that need perfectly.

Experience the LF Maas route
Cyclists who want to taste the LF Maasroute can go to Limburg and South Holland. The two South Holland islands of Voorne-Putten and Hoeksche Waard, only connected to the mainland by bridges, dams and ferry connections, form the backdrop for the Between Maas and Haringvliet weekend trip. The route passes various waterways, beautiful polder patterns and beautiful nature reserves. Whoever thinks of cycling in South Limburg thinks of beautiful sunken roads and magnificent views over the green hills that the region is rich in. But South Limburg offers much more. During the South Limburg Maas & Beken weekend trip, rolling green slopes alternate with vast plateaus and Maasvlaktes, characteristic villages and flowing streams in which trout swim.

Tasting on the LF Zuiderzee route
The Frisian Zuiderzee weekend trip is a cycling route through National Landscape Southwest Fryslân. Nowhere in the Netherlands can you find so many landscape types so close to each other. A coast with cliffs, the wooded and rolling Gaasterland, a clay area with mounds and dikes and a wide peat meadow landscape interspersed with lakes. The route takes you past all kinds of iconic waterworks or places where water has played an important role in history.

Experience the feeling of the LF Coastal Route
Taste the true coastal feeling and be surprised by the varied 'inland'; that is what the Coast and Country Estates weekend trip offers. You can cycle along the Wadden coast, around the Lauwersmeer and back along the canals around Dokkum with the Frisian coast and Lauwerszee tour. Enjoying the Wad, the space and the Groningen cultural history for a few days is what characterizes the Groninger Wadden weekend trip. For a cycling experience along the unique inlet of the Wadden Sea, choose the Eems-Dollard weekend tour of the same name. Or cycle along the Frisian coast and Middelzee along the Wadden coast and the shores of the old Middelzee, the sea that once split Friesland in two.

Discover the LF Waterline Route
Discover the exciting stories behind the waterline forts and enjoy a fortress terrace along the way. Cycle past beautiful nature and immerse yourself in the military history of the UNESCO World Heritage Dutch Water Lines with the Dutch Water Lines weekend tour. Or visit a number of beautiful fortified towns and villages, rivers, redoubts, a nature reserve annex inundation area and the silver museum during the Forten en Vestingen weekend trip. While cycling through a typically Dutch landscape, you will discover the splendor of the Green Heart. A landscape where you can imagine the flooded (inundated) land in front of you.

Development of LF weekend trips
In collaboration with the Bicycle platform (initiator of the Netherlands Fietsland), regional DMOs and route bureaus, the LF weekend trips have come about. The Bicycle Platform stimulates regional initiators such as DMOs and route bureaus in the development of these routes from a supporting role.
