Following the well-attended editions in previous years, the NKC will once again be organizing various motorhome weigh-in days in 2022. Under the motto 'Know what you weigh', the weighbridge can be found next Saturday, June 4 from 10:00 to 14:00 at Parking De Stok in Roosendaal. For a representative weighing result, the NKC advises participants to come to the weighbridge in Roosendaal on Saturday with a loaded, ready-to-travel camper. Participation is free and open to everyone without registration.

With the launch of the weighing campaign, the NKC wants to lower the threshold to the weighbridge and at the same time raise awareness about the theme of safety. All the more so because the 2021 weighing campaign showed that more than a third of weighed motorhomes were overweight. Based on the first four weighing days, this ratio seems to be continuing this year.

“Camping is extremely popular. A record number of motorhomes were sold again last year and not all new motorhome owners immerse themselves in the weights of their motorhome. That is why it is important to continue to draw attention to this theme.”

About loading and safety

The motor home not only risks a fine with an overloaded motorhome, but above all, too high a weight affects the driving stability. The reduced braking power can also lead to unsafe situations. So it's a loaded topic. A motorhome is overloaded when it – including passengers, luggage and water and fuel tank – is heavier than the permitted maximum mass stated on the registration certificate. In the Netherlands, you may drive a vehicle with a B driving license with a maximum permitted mass of no more than 3.500 kilograms.
