The Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij informs travelers that they can reschedule their travel plans.

KLM canceled up to fifty flights a day to or from Schiphol during the Whitsun weekend. Passengers were able to depart at a later time in the day. KLM announced that it was dealing with operational problems for flights departing from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. 

A strange situation arose on Sunday when the airline KLM decided to fly about forty aircraft back to Schiphol empty, while many hundreds of passengers were stranded at European airports as a result. Meanwhile, injured travelers made themselves heard on social media. The Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij informs travelers that they can reschedule their travel plans according to the advice they have received guidelines† When flights are booked from, to or via Amsterdam with departure until June 10, 2022, KLM offers rebooking and refund options.

Queues

The problems mainly occur during the security check. Schiphol airport itself has also been struggling for weeks with major problems due to staff shortages and large numbers of travelers. The queues at the security checkpoint are much longer than usual, which greatly affects the waiting time. It was already busy at Schiphol on Friday, with long queues outside the airport. Since Friday, the airport has started a trial whereby passengers are not allowed to enter a terminal earlier than four hours before the departure of their flight.
