Takeover REConvert offers large consumers of sustainable energy a perspective.

Solarwatt GmbH has acquired the Dutch company REConvert. The German manufacturer of high-quality solar energy systems Solarwatt GmbH has acquired the Dutch company REConvert. This acquisition will bring new, more intelligent solutions for larger-scale storage within reach of commercial parties that run into Dutch grid congestion.

mobility on solar energy

Anyone who already has solar panels will experience that charging the car with solar energy is child's play, provided the correct power strip has been installed. On the other hand, storing the generated power when the car is not charged is often another problem. Both companies have been working closely together for several years developing home batteries for solar energy storage. For example, REConvert also contributed to the Solarwatt Battery Flex, which Solarwatt introduced last year.

“With the acquisition, we are strengthening our know-how in the field of power electronics for battery systems and inverters and we are taking the next step in our development into a sector coupler. For our customers and our market, we are expanding the possibilities for battery storage with the solutions from REConvert, which we will now market as Solarwatt products."

The new Solarwatt sister company is jointly led by Van Zwam and Solarwatt CTO Dr. Armin Froitzheim. We are very happy that we are now part of the Solarwatt family. According to Van Zwam, they have a strong team behind them that deals with material purchasing, sales, logistics and further business development. As a result, they can now focus on what they really like and are good at: product development. This is definitely a win-win situation.

In addition to synergy and expansion of the Solarwatt portfolio, both partners also aspire to a specific approach to grid congestion. The generation of sustainable energy in the Netherlands is growing so strongly that the transport capacity is increasingly falling short. The demand for transport exceeds capacity and many commercial end users do not receive a (full) connection to the electricity grid.

''REConvert produces in the Netherlands, so Solarwatt becomes a company that produces in the Netherlands. The great thing about this acquisition is that within the Solarwatt group we now have a solution for the Dutch congestion problem with local production in the Netherlands.”
