Schiphol recently reported that it is canceling flights due to staff shortages. That is a big downer for holidaymakers three weeks before the summer holidays, according to the ANWB. Many Dutch people did not go on holiday for two years because of corona. After all the lockdowns and working from home, the holidaymaker now threatens to become a victim of the abuses at Schiphol.

It is currently unclear how many holidaymakers will be affected by this, which flights will be canceled and what the exact consequences will be. That alone creates great unrest and uncertainty for the traveler. The ANWB wants clarity for holidaymakers quickly so that they can still look for an alternative.

Schiphol must also provide good and up-to-date information about the planned cancellations. In May, the ANWB, together with the ANVR, sent a letter to the House of Representatives/minister for a more vigorous approach to the problems at Schiphol. Unfortunately, the problems are still not solved. The ANWB closely monitors developments. Members taking a vacation with the ANWB have booked will be notified automatically as soon as more information is known.
