NS currently has 1100 vacancies in total.

It almost sounds ironic, but to travel with NS and to be sure that the train does not stop due to a lack of staff, it is better to drive the train yourself. And that may be possible because NS will travel with a train simulator from Rotterdam to Eindhoven in the coming weeks. In this way everyone can experience what it is like to be a driver and to drive our latest Intercity.

The train simulator simulates the driver's workplace as realistically as possible. The controls and buttons are the same as those of the very latest Intercity, called ICNG. That stands for Intercity New Generation. This train will be the first to run on the High-Speed Line between Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Breda. You can operate the train simulator yourself in Rotterdam Central on Saturday 2 July (10.00 am to 16.00 pm) and Sunday 3 July (10.00 am to 16.00 pm). The train simulator will then be set up in Eindhoven Central Station on Friday 8 July (10.00 am to 16.00 pm).

vacancies

NS currently has a total of 1100 vacancies, spread across all business units. This includes positions such as mechanic, safety & service employee, retail employee at the station and IT person. In addition, NS urgently needs train drivers and conductors. NS recently announced that it would be able to drive less often on one route from 13 June due to the lack of colleagues. This year, 220 people have already started training to become a driver or chief conductor, but there are more than 500 training places available. NS pays for the training and participants receive a salary right from the start. Driver training lasts one year and conductor training five months. Both are offered in the training center in Amersfoort, among others.
