Minister Lydia Peeters assumes that the chance of being caught will increase.

In the Commission for Mobility and Public Works of the Flemish Parliament, Minister Lydia Peeters answered questions about the real-time registration of the journey data included in the Taxi Decree for companies under an IBP license. Only 50 percent of the companies under IBP license are fully in order with Chiron. A new starter guide was placed online in March and this summer MOW will send out a new round of communication to the operators.

Meanwhile, the police now have direct access to the Chiron database. After the summer, as soon as all data becomes clickable, the personal data of the driver and possibly the operator will become visible to the police. As far as enforcement is concerned, the minister is understanding because the taxi sector is experiencing a lot of difficulties and has suffered a lot from the corona pandemic.

Minister Lydia Peeters assumes that the chance of being caught will increase because both the local authorities and the police zones are now much more alert.

"That will also ensure that more and more people will connect to Chiron effectively."

Now things can go much more smoothly, and the police can have direct access to that database.

According to Peeters, we see that the number of permits is increasing and that the ratio of the number of affiliated companies is increasing even more. With the recent permits, there is also a much higher connection rate, due to a larger number of municipalities that know Chiron and monitor the presence of equipment or software in each vehicle when applying for a permit. Also the equipment and software suppliers are also sufficiently familiar with the method in the meantime.

The fact that the connections are now becoming urgent is also due to the fact that a larger number of police zones use the access to Chiron. This means that the chance of being caught with fines and temporarily withholding the permit is greater, and that encourages people to switch to a connection more quickly.

Previously, there was a lot of criticism about the lingering backlog, especially the information about it. Questions were raised from the sector about the complexity of the connection process and the overly technical manual. So a lot of work has been done on that. This spring a modified starter guide put online. It can be consulted by everyone.
