Safe driving nowadays encompasses more than damage-free driving.

Who will be the successor of René de Baat, the winner of the previous edition of the NK Safest Driver, and can call himself the safest driver in our country for a year? The wedstrijd is a competition in which people look for the safest truck driver in the Netherlands. 

During the Dutch Championships, Dutch truck drivers compete against each other. In addition to the sporting honor, the winner of the NK Safest Driver 2022 will of course win the TVM Award. In addition, the entire top 10 best truck drivers will go to Volvo Trucks in Gothenburg, Sweden. Here you will visit the factory, the Volvo Trucks demo center and the Volvo Museum. Numbers 11 to 20 go by bus to the largest Volvo Trucks factory in Ghent, Belgium.

The win was special for De Baat, as his father Izaak had also qualified for the final battle in Assen. The NK is the highlight of the TVM Awards, the name of the safety program of TVM insurance. The main objective of the TVM Awards is to create more awareness for safe driving among all road users and thus contribute to transport and road safety in the Netherlands.

The semifinals will take place on Saturday September 10 in Hoogeveen and on Saturday September 17 in Beesd. On Saturday October 1, the best 20 truck drivers will compete against each other in the final at the TT Circuit in Assen. The final is presented by TV personality and former top hockey player Hélène Hendriks.
