After two years of absence, the anniversary edition of the world famous Canal Parade will take place on Saturday 6 August. The parade of 12.00 boats is set in motion from the Oosterdok at 80:18.00 noon, after which the last boat arrives in the Westerdok around XNUMX:XNUMX pm. The central theme this year is 'My Gender, My Pride', which draws attention to the right to deviate from the norm and the sex we were given at birth. The jury, led by Cornald Maas, judges the participating boats and the entire trip is broadcast live via various channels.

“The weather forecasts are favorable and the creativity of the participants is once again great. We are looking forward to a special edition where 'being who you are and love who you want' is the norm and the fight for equal rights the message. When the first Canal Parade took place on August 3, 1996, the initiators had no idea that it would become an intangible heritage with this silver jubilee as a new milestone. We show the world how unique Amsterdam is, that everyone matters and that we stand together to support each other for a safe future.”

All 80 boats live on television and socials

The 80 participating boats each carry their own message, inspired by the theme 'My Gender, My Pride'. Under the leadership of chairman Cornald Maas, Simone Weimans, Jurre Geluk, Lisa van Ginneken and Carolien Borgers will assess the boats on the depiction of the theme, best execution and the awakening of a social theme. AVROTROS broadcasts the Canal Parade live on NPO1 from 12.10 to 15.45. The tour can be followed via the socials of Pride Amsterdam and can also be seen via PrideTV via AT5, Salto and OUTtv.
