Airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling and Wizz Air have ensured that airline tickets have become cheaper in recent decades.

During the interview Ryanair boss O'Leary told the BBC that the airline will no longer offer flights at rock-bottom prices. The rising fuel costs are the result of this decision, according to the boss of the budget airline. Chief executive Michael O'Leary says the era of the €10 ticket is definitely over.

Mr O'Leary said he had "very little sympathy" for the airports and said they knew the timetables months in advance and that the security personnel, who are the airports' responsibility, need less training than pilots. He accused Heathrow, which has limited the number of passengers coming to the airport in the summer, of "mismanagement".

Britain's departure from the EU proved to be a "disaster for the free movement of workers", according to the Ryanair boss, he said, calling on the government to "be honest and admit" that it was the cause of the labor shortage. Ryanair is based in Dublin but operates hundreds of routes to and from the UK.
