So it's bad for a while now, but prevents malfunctions in the future.

From 21:00 there will be no more train traffic to and from Amersfoort Central station on Tuesday evening, August 16. The cause lies in the replacement of a system that regulates the safety of train traffic around the station. The system is currently down frequently, making replacement necessary, according to rail manager ProRail. The replacement of the parts starts at 22:00.

Before that time, all trains in the area must be gone or in place. That is why the last train will arrive at Amersfoort Central Station at the latest at 21:00. The repair means that the signals and switches in the entire area will not function. As a result, the trains cannot run in this area during the replacement. After the replacement, Movares engineers will extensively test the new system. For example, they can only say with certainty on Wednesday morning that the safety system is working properly.

That testing takes a lot of time. To avoid the risk of delays in Wednesday's morning rush, they will start the replacement a bit earlier in the evening. ProRail realizes that this is annoying for travelers who cannot reach their destination during the last hours of Tuesday, but with this they solve a problem that resolves common, unexpected disruptions. So it's bad for a while now, but prevents malfunctions in the future.

Due to delivery problems, NS buses are also unable to run.
