This was the best presentation we've had. We are looking forward to three beautiful days of cycling.

A weekend with Spanish influences. La Vuelta comes to the Netherlands on 19, 20 and 21 August 2022. With top riders, a team presentation, an extensive program and three beautiful stages through Utrecht and Brabant, it will be a unique event to experience. There is a lot to do around the competition days. La Vuelta started festively with a team presentation in Utrecht.

The 23 participating teams presented themselves to the public after a short bike ride through Hoog Catharijne on the Vredenburgplein, after which a boat trip through the Singel followed. A total of 12.500 people witnessed the kick-off. In her opening speech, Mayor Sharon Dijksma thanked the Spanish organization. Due to Corona, the start that was planned in 2020 was postponed by two years.

“Partly on behalf of Breda and 's-Hertogenbosch and the provinces of Utrecht and North Brabant, Utrecht Unipublic would like to thank you for the trust and patience.”

In addition to the riders, including three-time winner Primoz Roglic, world champion Julian Alaphilippe and the retiring Aljeandro Valverde and Vincenzo Nibali, the visitors enjoyed an entertainment program. Jan Janssen, the first Dutch Vuelta winner, among others, looked ahead to the Vuelta 2022.

It is an event in public space. This also means that the event has an impact on the accessibility of all the municipalities where the stages take place. Of course, it differs per municipality when the local closures apply and what the impact is on accessibility. Click on the municipality for which you information search or view the frequently asked questions. The road is reopened about an hour after the peloton has passed by. Of course, the course is also closed before the arrival of the riders. On average, the entire closing time is 2,5 to 3 hours, depending on the course of the course, this can be longer.

If you live in the area, we recommend that you come by bike or on foot. Take a look at the digital map for the bicycle sheds. If this is not possible, then public transport is a good option. Plan your trip in advance on the NS App of op ns.nl and check the app again shortly before departure.
