Because of the problems, parents have to bring their children themselves.

The start of the school year this week gives some of the parents of the students from Zwolle of special education headaches. The municipality says it is working on other measures to quickly solve the problems. For example, civil servants are looking at whether volunteers and care employees can take care of rides. 

According to newspaper The Stentor At the start of the school year, thirteen routes cannot be driven at the agreed times, as a result of which a hundred students, mainly from special education, are affected. Taxi company Munckhof points to the staff shortage as the cause. Because of the problems, parents have to bring their children themselves. Then they receive a mileage allowance. Another option is that children are picked up later and thus miss the start of the lessons.

"The shortage on the labor market arose in the period when more was possible after the lockdowns. Last year we already had more trouble getting rounds to work."

A year ago it seemed almost unthinkable. It recovery of the economy is going much faster than expected now that the worst consequences of the corona crisis are behind us. The growth is so fast that nine out of ten companies find it difficult to find staff. Yet another problem now threatens because if companies do not find employees, the economy will not be able to fully recover. The taxi sector is not the only sector where the problems are serious. The hospitality and construction sectors are also faced with a huge shortage of colleagues.
