Trade union FNV announced that in the coming weeks there will be a strike again in regional transport. The strike is taking place despite a legally valid collective labor agreement already in effect. The public transport companies are committed to maintaining the timetable as much as possible, so that as few travelers as possible are inconvenienced by the announced strikes.

Earlier this year, the members of CNV Vakmensen agreed to the offer of the Association of Public Transport Employers (VWOV). The agreement of CNV was sufficient for a legally valid and binding collective agreement for public transport. The Collective Labor Agreement for Public Transport has therefore been in force since 1 July 2022.

The FNV union indicates that it does not agree with the current collective labor agreement and is still campaigning. After previous regional days of action, FNV has announced a series of strikes from Tuesday 6 September. It's about:

  • Tuesday September 6, 2022: all parking facilities in the provinces of South Holland, Zeeland, Flevoland and also the Connexxion (OV Regio IJsselmond) parking facility in Harderwijk (Gelderland) and Zwartsluis (Overijssel).
  • Wednesday 7 September 2022: all bicycle parking facilities in the provinces of Noord-Holland and Utrecht.
  • Thursday 8 September 2022: all parking facilities in the provinces of Noord-Brabant, Limburg and Gelderland, excluding the Connexxion parking facility (OV Regio IJsselmond) in Harderwijk.
  • Friday 9 September 2022: all parking facilities in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and Overijssel, excluding the Connexxion parking facility (OV Regio IJsselmond) in Zwartsluis.
  • Friday September 16, 2022: nationwide; so all parking facilities in all provinces.

Not all public transport personnel are on strike

FNV members who are prepared to strike will go on strike on the above days. But there are also colleagues who do go to work. They do their utmost to get as many travelers as possible from A to B. At the moment, the exact nuisance experienced by travelers is not yet clear. Because only members of FNV are on strike, our hope is that a large part of the timetable can still be driven. The cancellation of rides was limited during the earlier strikes. We do call on travelers to take delays and possible cancellations into account. Every day, the transport companies inform travelers about the current situation through various channels.

The public transport companies regret the decision of the FNV to continue to take action, while the collective labor agreement is already a fait accompli. Travelers across the country are at risk of being hit by these strikes. We therefore again call on the FNV to participate in the discussions that have already started about a new collective labor agreement from 1 January 2023, according to the Association of Public Transport Employers (VWOV).
