Electricity costs have risen enormously, especially in relative terms compared to petrol and diesel. Due to the high energy prices, electric drivers sometimes even pay more than motorists who drive on petrol.

This trend confirms the usefulness and necessity of smartly planning the charging of an electric car in order to reduce costs. This can be done by means of smart rates (off-peak rate, or better yet a dynamic rate), by charging on our own solar panels and by helping to balance the grid.

From data from Jedlix shows that more than 70 percent of electric drivers have solar panels at home. By smart charging, electric drivers can quickly reduce their electricity costs by 30 percent. This makes it relatively easy for an EV driver to stay well below the price of driving on petrol and diesel. More and more electric cars and charging stations are suitable for smart charging.
