Strikes are suspended.

Rail carrier NS and the trade unions have reached an agreement after lengthy and difficult collective labor agreement negotiations. The announced strikes for this week have therefore been suspended. State Secretary Vivianne Heijnen (Infrastructure and Water Management) is pleased that the trade unions and the NS have agreed on a collective labor agreement.

“In our opinion, there is not much more that can be done,” says Henri Janssen of FNV Spoor. “The NS had to come from far; they were tough negotiations. We are happy with it, because we do not strike for pleasure. And it is also nice for travelers that the strikes are now over.”

Director Freek Bos of the Rover passenger association calls the agreement in principle "a first piece of the puzzle in a much larger task" for train traffic.
