About the NK Safest Driver and the TVM Awards
Road safety is and remains an important theme. In 2021, 582 people died in traffic in the Netherlands, according to CBS. Research shows that human behavior plays a major role in more than 90 percent of the number of accidents; that number must and can be reduced. TVM insurance has been committed to transport safety for decades. The NK Safest Driver is part of the TVM Awards, an initiative of TVM to create more awareness among all road users for road safety and at the same time to show appreciation for Dutch professional drivers.
TV personality Hélène Hendriks has been an ambassador for the TVM Awards from the start. She will also present the final day on 1 October. In addition to the sporting honour, the winner of the Dutch Safest Driver Championship will naturally win the bronze TVM Award. In addition, the top 10 will win a visit to the Volvo Trucks factory in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The TVM Awards are supported by a number of involved partners:
Volvo Trucks Netherlands, JobTrans, Safe Traffic Netherlands, Van Eijck, Sector Institute Transport and Logistics, Continental, Bumper, ANWB and Eye Wish.
