The Arnhem-South police are often asked what they like about their work. And then comes the standard answer, the variety, every day is different. Last Sunday it started 'different' again due to a report from a taxi driver. The taxi driver had a customer in the car who couldn't pay, but also didn't know where to go.
It concerned a Belgian taxi that had driven from Antwerp to Arnhem, Arnhem agents write on Facebook. Police found a young man near the taxi who was sleeping in the back seat. When he woke up, it turned out that he was still well under the influence of alcohol. He himself had no idea where he was. He had been out in Antwerp on Saturday night.
Finally came the police to the conclusion that he does not even live near Arnhem and should have been taken to his hotel in Antwerp. Together with the man, the taxi driver drove back to Antwerp to immediately arrange the costs. The bill would be about $800. In any case, the customer has a special story to tell, if he still knows what happened.
