The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) calls on taxi entrepreneurs to have the current G2 system card of the taxi on-board computer (BCT) replaced by the new G3 system card in good time. This is because the G2 system card will no longer work from March 21, 2023, which means that the BCT will no longer work either.

The taxi entrepreneurs themselves are responsible for leaving substitute of the system board and a properly working BCT. Taxis that do not have a G3 system card in the BCT will not be allowed to drive from March 21, 2023 until the old G2 system card has been replaced.

Mandatory registration

For proper registration of journey data and working and rest times, all taxis in the Netherlands are required to be equipped with an On-board Computer Taxi (BCT). During taxi work, the taxi driver uses a personal driver card in the BCT for the registration of journey data and working and rest times. Each BCT contains a system card that identifies the on-board computer and enables it to sign data. The BCT is an important instrument for the ILT in its supervision and enforcement. During road inspections, company inspections and digital inspections, the inspectorate checks, among other things, for the presence and use of a BCT.

Safe taxi transport

Safe transport by taxi is important, which is why the government has drawn up laws and regulations for taxi transport. The rules are intended to improve the working conditions of taxi drivers and to combat unfair competition. The ILT ensures that entrepreneurs and drivers in the taxi sector comply with the rules.
