In the coming days, traffic disruption may be experienced on roads and canals along the route. Sinterklaas will arrive in Amsterdam on Sunday 13 November 2022. The good man sails with the steamboat from the direction of Spaklerweg over the Amstel into the city and changes at the Hermitage to the Port of Amsterdam for a canal tour. 

The tour goes via the Herengracht, Leidsegracht, Prinsengracht, and then again via the Amstel towards Stopera. There, the Good Saint is given a short word of welcome by mayor Halsema and the children's mayor. The mayors will also hand over the Amsterdam city key to Saint Nicholas. After a short stop, the Saint continues his journey on horseback, followed by a procession of musicians, floats and his Pieten. 

The route starts at Waterlooplein, then goes via Blauwbrug, Rembrandtplein, Utrechtsestraat, Frederiksplein, and Weteringcircuit and ends at Leidseplein with a festive landing ceremony. Amsterdam also expects around 300.000 – 350.000 visitors this year who will come to welcome Sinterklaas on the water or along the route by road.

The national arrival of Sinterklaas is this year on Saturday November 12, 2022 and that will be in Hellevoetsluis in the Netherlands. Last year it was a virtual arrival and this year the entry will take place again in the normal way. The arrival of Sinterklaas in the Netherlands will be broadcast nationally on television. The Sinterklaas arrival 2022 will be broadcast again on NPO 3 by the NTR. The live broadcast of the NTR starts at 12:00 and usually lasts about 5 quarters of an hour. 

The weather is not unimportant. This year visitors to the entry can count on dry and fairly sunny weather. During the entry, the temperature rises to around 14 degrees, which is on the mild side for the time of year.
