The four A350Fs emit about 40% less CO2 and make 50% less noise than their predecessors.

Martinair, part of the KLM Group, has ordered four new A350F cargo aircraft from Airbus. Martinair is the air freight carrier for KLM Cargo (the so-called operating carrier). The four A350Fs emit about 40% less CO2 and make 50% less noise than their predecessors. The new aircraft will replace the current Boeing 2026 freighters from the second half of 747.

“Fleet renewal is an important part of KLM's ambition to become more sustainable. We take our responsibility in this. We want to emit less CO2 because of the climate and reduce noise for local residents. With the A350F, CO2 drops by more than 40% and noise by 50% compared to their predecessors. That is why we have decided to place this order earlier than originally planned. Instead of in 2027, we will replace the freighters from the autumn of 2026. We are accelerating KLM's sustainability efforts."

The A350F is the cargo variant of the A350 passenger aircraft. It has an extra large cargo deck and lighter materials have been used as much as possible to keep the take-off weight low. Together with efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, this significantly improves performance in terms of CO2 emissions and noise. The new devices are therefore more economical with fewer emissions and quieter.

In total, the payload in the chosen configuration is a maximum of 108 tons. The aircraft are suitable for various types of cargo, including fresh produce, express shipments, pharmaceuticals, horse transport and oversized cargo, according to the company. airline.

“By opting for the A350F, we are also taking important steps in the cargo sector to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce noise nuisance. I am pleased with these new, technologically advanced aircraft in the fleet, which fit well within the Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo operation and our maintenance department. For our customers, choosing the versatile A350F is good news for the future. The new aircraft are an important addition to the belly capacity of our extensive intercontinental passenger fleet.”
