The Municipality of Rotterdam has become Spitbreaker of the year. The municipality's mobility policy was judged to be the best of the three remaining contenders. The Maaststad received the prize during BNR Mobility. The Municipality of Rotterdam wins the Spitsbreaker of the Year award, succeeding the ANWB. In Spitsbrekers, BNR looks for smart, inspiring initiatives from companies that avoid traffic jams.

"Many people work there and Rotterdam has an exemplary function in the region, which they actively fulfill. They have a good bicycle policy. Employees can purchase a bicycle for 2250 euros. They have no parking policy, so parking is not possible at the expense of the employer.' Netelenbos continues: '80 percent of the employees work from home, which means they get a lot of people off the road.

Tineke Netelenbos has had a long career in politics. From 1998 to 2002 she was Minister of Transport and from 1994-1998 Secretary of State for Education, Culture and Science. She then held and still holds various managerial positions in both business and civil society.
