Amsterdam is overrun with bicycles, especially at the various stations you don't know what you see. A huge number of bicycle racks and also a bicycle flat (you could park your bicycle here until January 30) is quite normal here. We all know that the Netherlands is a real cycling country, but in Amsterdam you see bicycles everywhere you look. The street scene around Amsterdam Central Station is now changing, it is becoming tidier, safer and clearer. Amsterdam is in fact two new underground bicycle parking facilities richer. Bicycle parking Stationsplein at Amsterdam Central station has been open to users since January 26, and bicycle parking IJboulevard at Amsterdam Central station has recently been open to users. The unique thing about these two bicycle sheds is that they are built under the water, the main entrances are of course above ground.

"These bicycle parking facilities combine everything the Netherlands is known for. Beautiful and accessible historic city centres, very good public transport, the standard combination of train and bicycle and, to top it all off: building in and under water. The bicycle has no disadvantages in the Netherlands, provided you can park it properly. These 10.000 extra places, not to mention 700 public transport bicycles, help enormously with that. Because the busier our cities become, the more relevant the combination of bicycle and train is."

The Stationsplein bicycle parking has almost 7.000 spaces, making this bicycle parking the largest in Amsterdam and the first in the world to be built under water. On the other side is the IJboulevard bicycle shed, which can accommodate 4.000 bicycles. This adds up to a total of 11.000 additional bicycle parking spaces at Amsterdam Central Station. Bicycle parking IJboulevard is located at the back of Amsterdam Central Station. The Stationsplein bicycle parking facility is located in front of Amsterdam Central Station. The new bicycle sheds are fully equipped. There is a bicycle repair service. You can see how many parking spaces are still available at the entrance. When you enter the parking, you will see with lights where there is still a space available. There is also a screen with train times. Travelers get parking for the first 24 hours free.
