Olof Dieckhaus recently announced that he is ending his career in the passenger transport sector after a quarter of a century to pursue new professional challenges.
After 25 years in which he has fulfilled various roles – from entrepreneur and director to manager and advisor – he feels that the time is ripe for a new direction. His recent position as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Noot Personenvervoer was the highlight of his career in this sector, but after a period of reflection, Dieckhaus has decided to broaden his horizons.
In a statement, Olof Dieckhaus looks back with gratitude on his time at Noot Personenvervoer and on the valuable collaborations he built there. He thanks Martijn Kersing, among others, for his indispensable support and trust in recent years. “My thanks go out to Martijn Kersing for his valuable support and trust, both in the past and in this new step in my career. His contribution and trust have played an important role in my development at Noot,” he writes in his farewell message. Although he is retiring from his formal position, Olof will remain involved with the company in an advisory role. From this position, he will provide strategic support to Noot, particularly in the field of technological innovation and digital direction.
new chances
However, his departure from Noot does not mean that he is going to sit still. Olof is open to new opportunities and challenges, preferably in other sectors and industries. His extensive experience in the field of digital transformation, (re)organization, strategy and information security makes him a sought-after candidate for companies that are struggling with modern digital issues. In his message, he even hints that he is not ruling out a new entrepreneurial adventure: “This is a new chapter in which I want to use my experience to create value in other environments. I certainly do not rule out a new entrepreneurial adventure (in the long term) either.”
Given the growing demand for digital security and efficient business operations in virtually every sector, his expertise is particularly relevant. Cybersecurity and digital transformation are currently core topics for many companies, and Olof’s knowledge and experience can be of great value to a wide range of organizations. During his time at Noot, he developed a keen insight into optimizing processes and securing digital information flows, something he now wants to apply to other sectors. The fact that he is open to both long-term and interim roles gives him the flexibility to explore various sectors.
Olof Dieckhaus, who is leaving the passenger transport sector after 25 years, receives words of appreciation from Gerrit Saey, director of Censys BV. Saey emphasizes the constructive cooperation and positive relationship he has maintained with Dieckhaus for many years. In a statement, Saey said: “As director of Censys BV, I have always had a good relationship with Olof Dieckhaus over the past 25 years and never viewed him as a competitor in our market for automation in passenger transport. On the contrary, I have worked constructively with Olof all those years.”
Censys BV, a leading company in automation solutions for the transport sector, has worked closely with Dieckhaus and his team in recent years, especially on important digitalization projects in the mobility sector. This collaboration was demonstrated, among other things, during the joint work on the Central Taxi Database (CDT) project, initiated by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).
This project aimed to improve data availability and transparency within the taxi market and was made possible by a shared vision between the teams of Censys and Dieckhaus. “During the last project Central Taxi Database of the ILT, we often worked together with a shared opinion about the way in which and the course of events,” says Gerrit Saey. The project offered both parties the opportunity to combine their expertise and contribute to a more effective and transparent system within the transport sector.
appreciation
The collaboration between Dieckhaus and Saey shows how both companies, despite their position in the same market, have always kept a common interest in mind and have strengthened each other. Saey therefore looks with confidence at the future steps that Dieckhaus will take and wishes him every success in his next career phase. “I wish Olof every success in his further career,” he concludes. These words underline the mutual respect and the joint commitment to improvement and innovation within the transport sector.
Olof Dieckhaus was once co-founder and director of Quipment, a Dutch company that specialized in on-board computer solutions for taxi companies. The company was founded in 2003 by Dieckhaus and Roy Boons and grew in ten years to an organization with more than 70 employees in the Netherlands and India.
Quipment has distinguished itself by developing the On-Board Computer Taxi (BCT), a device that automatically registers rides and driving and rest times of taxi drivers. In June 2013, Quipment received type approval for their BCT from the RDW, which was an important milestone in the development and certification process.
restart
In January 2014, Quipment also received the MID type approval for the integrated taximeter in their BCT, issued by the Netherlands Measurement Institute (NMI). This made the BCT an all-in-one solution for taxi companies. Despite these successes, Quipment faced financial challenges. In June 2014, the company filed for bankruptcy, but a restart was quickly realized. Dieckhaus remained as director to ensure the continuity of the company.
In February 2023, Quipment announced its withdrawal from the market in mid-2024, due to supply chain issues and labor shortages. This decision was communicated via a press release and a letter from Olof Dieckhaus to all Quipment customers. During his career at Quipment, Dieckhaus played a key role in the development and certification of on-board computer solutions for the taxi industry, focusing on innovation and quality.
