In collaboration with PowerGo, Jumbo wants to equip a large part of its stores in the Netherlands and Belgium with charging points.

Jumbo customers can charge their electric car in Nieuwegein from today. The stores at De Walnootgaarde and Galecop are the first Jumbo stores to have their own fast charging stations. Jumbo customers receive 25 Jumbo Extras points with every charge. Customers can exchange these points for free groceries and discounts on subscriptions and days out.

Anrico Maat, Sales & Operations director at Jumbo Supermarkets about the initiative: “More and more customers have an electric car. Now they can easily and quickly charge their car at one of our charging stations while shopping. We are working hard on the CO2 reduction of our stores and at the same time we also want to help our customers to reduce emissions.”

The electricity for the charging stations is generated sustainably and comes entirely from Dutch solar energy. The charging time is equal to the average time the customer spends in the Jumbo store. As a result, in many cases the car is fully charged again as soon as the shopping has been done.
