The company already has a footprint in Germany, Italy and France, but it has bigger ambitions.

Cooltra, Europe's pioneer in two-wheeled, sustainable mobility, has secured an impressive €22 million in financing. With this new capital, the company will expand its fleet of electric vehicles and expand its footprint in the international market.

The company, founded by Timo Buetefisch, has been a name synonymous with sustainable mobility in Europe for some time now. The company recently invested 10 million euros in the purchase and renewal of its vehicles. The latest financing round not only demonstrates Cooltra's financial viability but also the growing importance of sustainable transport solutions.

The deal includes a 'Green Loan' of EUR 18 million, facilitated by Santander Corporate and Investment Banking. This financial institution also plays a crucial role as coordinator of sustainability initiatives in the deal. Other participants include COFIDES, Institut Català de Finances, Deutsche Bank, Bankinter and Arquia. On top of this 18 million, another 4 million euros have been added to refinance existing debts, bringing the total financing volume to 22 million euros.

more than just money

Francesc Madurell, Chief Financial Officer of cooltra, emphasizes the unique nature of this financing. “This is the first time that a company in our sector has accessed this type of loan, which reflects the confidence that various institutions have in the future of sustainable mobility,” says Madurell. Last year, Cooltra made its debut on the German market, aimed at companies and government organizations. The company has since strengthened its presence in countries such as Italy and France. In Italy, Cooltra is already a market leader in scooter sharing in cities such as Rome, Milan and Turin.

The 'Green Loan' is a crucial part of the financing and not only gives Cooltra the financial scope to grow, but also endorses the company's sustainable objectives.

The company also recently won a tender to provide scooter-sharing services in Paris for the next five years, a market that is clearly growing in the world of sustainable mobility. This financing comes shortly after a capital increase of 25 million euros last November. The company recorded a turnover of 47 million euros in the last financial year and expects to exceed this figure in the current financial year. Cooltra has clear plans to lead the decarbonization of European cities through zero-emission mobility solutions.
