The training camp in Spain offers N.E.C. an excellent opportunity to prepare for the second half of the season.

With the absence of some key players, other talents are given the opportunity to step into the spotlight and prove their value to the team. N.E.C., the well-known football club from Nijmegen, today left for Mijas in Spain with a selection of 21 players for a training camp. This camp, which takes place at the prestigious La Cala Golf Resort, will last until January 7. The highlight of this training camp is a friendly match against Fortuna Düsseldorf, scheduled for Friday at 15:00 PM.

The selection for this training camp has been carefully put together by coach Rogier Meijer, who is known for his strategic choices. However, some notable names are missing from the list. Striker Bas Dost, a key player in N.E.C.'s attack, will stay home to rest. This can be seen as a strategic choice by Meijer, possibly to recharge Dost for the important matches that follow after the camp.

The collaboration between football club N.E.C. from Nijmegen and the well-known transport company Betuwe Express was strengthened earlier this year. Both parties have extended their partnership for another two seasons. This extension means that Betuwe Express remains responsible for the transport of both the players and supporters of N.E.C., a role they have been fulfilling for some time.

In addition, midfielders Kas de Wit and Nils Rossen will not travel due to injuries. Their absence could pose a challenge for the Nijmegen team's midfield, but also offers opportunities for other players to prove themselves.

The decision regarding Luc Netten, Daan Maas and D'Leanu Arts is also striking. This trio, originally part of the first selection, will remain in Nijmegen and join the Under 21. This youth team of N.E.C. has recently been promoted to the top level, which means they will be playing against stronger opponents after the winter break. Although these players are now permanently in the O.21, there is always the possibility that they will still be used in the first team in the event of injuries or suspensions.
