The feedback collected through NMBS Lab plays a crucial role in the ongoing development and refinement of the services NMBS offers.

The Belgian National Company of Belgian Railways (NMBS) today launched a new feature on its website that allows travelers to view the composition of their train in advance. This function provides valuable information about the location of specific carriages, such as the bicycle carriage and first class, and indicates whether the train is equipped with air conditioning.

This innovation responds to common questions from travelers and improves customer service by providing transparency about the facilities on board the trains. At an earlier stage, users of the NMBS website and app could already see the expected crowds on the trains, a function that has been available since 2020.

The addition of train compositions to the website is currently exclusively available via the NMBS web interface, but will also be integrated into the mobile app in the coming months. Later this year, the intention is that this information will also be visible on digital information boards on the platforms, making it even easier for travelers to find their way.

In addition to this new feature, NMBS has also launched an updated version of the BikeOnTrain journey planner, which has been around for two years and already has 30.000 users. This travel planner has been specially developed for travelers who want to take their bicycle with them. The update provides new information about the accessibility of stations for cyclists, such as the presence of lifts and bicycle ramps that facilitate access to the platforms.

The developments reflect NMBS's commitment to making train travel easier and more pleasant, by continuously listening to user feedback and using technology to improve the service. The introduction of the new website function follows a period of extensive testing and feedback gathering via NMBS Lab, a platform where travelers can try out and assess new functions before they are officially implemented.
