Swapfiets reaches the milestone of 200.000 customers in four countries. More than a year ago, the counter was still at 100.000 bicycle subscribers. The popularity of the subscription for bicycles with the recognizable blue tire has taken off, particularly in cities outside the Netherlands.

The driving force behind the growth of Company, the major cities are in Germany, Belgium and Denmark. Between January and May this year, the number of Swap bikes in Brussels, Copenhagen and Berlin, among others, even doubled. After the introduction of Swapfiets for Business and the first electric bicycle in 2019, the Dutch scale-up expects to reach an increasingly wider target group with the current growth.

Richard Burger, one of the founders of Swapfiets: “The popularity of Swapfiets has now also expanded enormously outside the Netherlands. Reaching this milestone of 200.000 customers strengthens our ambitions for further growth. We see many opportunities here now that more and more people leave their cars behind and the red carpet is being rolled out for bicycles in major European cities.
